We tend to think that refusing to exalt Christ is staying true to our self-will and personal freedom when really we are condemning ourselves. Sure, we can pretend to stay true to ourselves, but if you want to talk about reality, all of that is completely trivial if this life is an island and He's the only pilot with a plane and a flight plan. About This Quote

I'm not saying that I agree with everything he did. But, I also don't know what he would do without the Lord.

He was always willing to die for his country at any time so his country would be free of oppression. He was willing to put himself in prison so the people could be freed from apartheid. But, I am not so sure he would have been able to keep on fighting if he had given up on the Lord.

So, in a sense, refusing to exalt Christ is simply speaking about faithfulness when it comes to God and Christ giving us a place in His Kingdom where we can be free from all of our sin and live for Him forever.
